Bronx Zoo
« on: September 29, 2005, 10:31:29 PM »
Has anyone on here been to the Bronx Zoo?  DW & I are going to be in NYC for a day or 2 in December and we've never been.  It looks great on the website but I was hoping to hear from first-hand experience.

Ta,
Matt

I went there two weekends ago. It was hot as hell, I had a blister on the ball of my foot from all of the walking I had done the day before (found a pebble in my shoe later) so couldn't walk much but took the trams and the monorail as well as the shuttle in the park. Managed to see quite a bit, despite the injury.

I'm a zoo freak...always try to go to a zoo whenever I'm visiting a new place. It's actually quite good and well worth the trip.

Have fun!

I'm from the Bronx, so yeah, I've been to the Bronx Zoo  :P I haven't been there in so many years though.. I think the last time I went there I was 14 or 15. That was ages ago, but I do remember always having a great time there. I hope they still have the camel rides, those are great fun! You said you're going december.. that's when they do the whole lights thing there ( and obviously, won't have the camel rides then  ::) ). I never saw their light display, just glimpses of it when I'd take the bus to school, like the outside decorations and such. My little sister went to it and she enjoyed it.

Sorry can't give you much info but maybe someone else who's been there more recently can :)

Sorry for the slow reply, my new job has been absolutely hammering me with work.
The christmas lights thing sounds really cool!

I think I read some exhibits are closed or they move some of the animals normally outside inside because of the cold weather.  But it sounds like there's still plenty to see.

Lookin' forward to it.

Thanks,
Matt
