Dog muzzles

The dog poo is better here than in France or Spain though!

Perhaps I should have said the quantity of dog poo .....

I dont recall ever seeing a dog muzzled where i live... but i believe some of them should be.

Amsterdam is known as the dog-poo-on-the-sidewalk (pavement?) capital of the world!  And I love Amsterdam but I also have to agree with that particular odious honor.

On the muzzle issue, DH once told me something about if you're taking your dog on public transport here in the UK - you're supposed to muzzle it.  Maybe that's why you see more dogs with muzzles on them?  (I first typed muggles instead of muzzles - LOL!)  Having said that, I've also seen lots of dogs on the train, etc that were not muzzled.

No no!  I think I first read the Amsterdam dog poo thing in a travel guide -- prolly Lonely Planet.  Then I went & saw for myself.

I guess it depends on where you live. I've never seen a dog in a muzzle here. And, 9 times out of 10 the dogs I do see aren't on leads. Honestly, the only times I've ever seen dogs on leads here is when someone is walking more than one at a time. I'm so tired of seeing dogs running around without leashes because I worry that one of them will dart out in front of my car (just happened the other day) at the last second and I'm going to run them over. Do they even have leash laws here? Because it doesn't seem like it where I live.

The places I've seen this are nowhere near train stations, so that's not the answer. If that were the reason, they could keep the dog un-muzzled, and then put the muzzle on just outside the station.

Here, I see lots of little dogs with muzzles: schnauzers, terriers, etc.  Surely these are not attack dogs, so why can't their owners just train them not to bite, rather than muzzle them. 

I find that it's mostly the little dogs that bite or nip at people.  I had a miniature poodle when I was a kid who was completely insane due to inbreeding (his parents were purebred show dogs).  He bit and attacked everyone with no warning.  I still have scars on my hands and arms from where he would latch on to me with his teeth.     He attacked everyone, except my mom, and she refused to get rid of him.  Big dogs seem smarter, (IMO), and usually only bite on command.

Anyway, in my experience with dogs, its the little ones are the ones who act like they have something to prove, scrapping w/other dogs & biting people.   
They just crazy!   

I wonder if there's any child muzzles available 

No, just leashes and harnesses...
