Pie Pan
« on: October 31, 2005, 08:17:17 PM »
I can't seem to find a 9 inch pie pan... or any pie pan for that matter.

I've checked Tesco, John Lewis, Debenhams, Sainsbury's and even Lakeland Limited with NO luck.

Any suggestions?

We wanted to make a pumpkin pie for Halloween (with Libby's pumpkin found at Waitrose!!!) and couldn't find a pie pan... so we bought an apple pie and popped it out of the tin and put it in the freezer and used that tin to make the pumpkin pie.  Heh.  Anyhow, would like to get a proper pan sometime soon.  Any suggestions?

I have a round metal pie pan that I got here, can't remember where, but it's not fluted......it makes a great cheesecake though!! I did get the pan in a grocery store, I think.....just keep looking, people DO bake here!! There was a whole pumpkin pie thread somewhere on here..........check the food section. Good luck!

Any special reason why it has to be 9-inch?
I bought a pie tin in Lakeland... it's only 7-inch, but it works!
(they also had multi-packs of foil pie tins... these were 8-inch).

For years I used the tart tins with the premade crusts but finally gave in and asked my mom to send me some Marie Callandar's tins. I now have a boatload of those and make my own crusts. A nice, thick pie can't be beat. If you can't find any locally you may ask for some for Xmas from someone from home?

My pumpkin pie recipe called for a 10 inch pan, so that I did get in the US and brought over with me.

This one is about 9 inches (converted from cm) and approx 1.5 inches deep:

I ordered some stuff from the place a week or so ago.  I even found a 'Bundt' cake pan on the site (but they don't call it that).  They're in the Cotswolds somewhere if you live around there -- you could go to the store.

Thanks everyone.  I guess it doesn't really matter if it is 9 inch, although the recipe more filling than the 7 inch pie pan can hold.
My best friend is coming over in less than two weeks, so I might have her bring one for me!
