Candy canes in UK?
« on: November 17, 2005, 04:28:26 AM »
I'm j/w because I thought I remember DF saying there aren't candy canes in the UK?!  Is that true?  Maybe he just has never looked for them.

I bought some the other night, except they are "Sweet tarts" candy canes.  There's cherry (tastes like cherry jello), green apple, and blue punch.  I had a blue one and I looked like the cookie monster!   [smiley=charming.gif]

Anyway, the peppermint flavor is of course classic.  Has anyone seen candy canes in the UK?

Starbucks has them!  The regular sized peppermint ones.  Usually they're just by the cash register this time of year.

I got them at Woolworths when I was looking, and the lady called them 'rock walking sticks', which made me laugh. ;D

'Poundies' - £Stretcher - has 'em out here already, as does Woolie's.

Wilkinson usually have them.  They're called Candy Canes on the box and they're natural peppermint flavor.

Little specialty shops that have sweets/candy from the continent, etc will have them, too. I even worked at a kitchen/cookware shop that sold candy and they had them!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

My boyfriend spotted them in Waitrose the other day, but I was distracted trying to get all the essentials into the trolley before the damn store closed at 8:00.  I didn't pay attention to him, so I have no idea if they were peppermint or fruity flavour.

I notice that someone else has the same issue with the closing times here!!!  The streets do roll up early!!!  One thing I do notice is that some stores (not food stores) open earlier than the US.
