Don't give them away!!!!! US DVDs WILL work on UK machines.  Most UK machines are multi-regional and you can obtain the "hack" so they can play US Dvds!

you can either buy a multi-region DVD player, or reprogram a DVD player to accept other region DVD.

also- you can play on your computer.

A U.S. Xbox will not play UK games, but you can always get Region 1 (U.S.) games on eBay.

but what about plugging them in (yes, I do have a US adaptor here) and plugging them into a UK bought tv? I have never brought my boy's machines over here because of this...and was too lazy to look into it!

My husband did hack our dvd player and we buy both regional 1 and 2 dvds with no problems.

you also need a TV that can play NTSC signals as well as the European PAL standard. Most modern ones seem to be able to.

You can buy a multi-region (sometimes called "region-free") DVD player for less than 20 pounds at Argos.com or Amazon.co.uk.  I just got one from Argos and have had no problem playing US, European or UK DVDs

you can just "crack it" and make it multi region. All you need is the code and then you punch in the numbers with your remote control. You can get the code off the internet. Dont give them away!!
