But there'll always be a special place in my heart for real whipped cream . . . sprayed out of a can. ;D

Don't particularly care for whipped dessert toppings but there's something to be said for the ones that come in a can...can be a lot of fun, if used "not as intended by the manufacturer".  ;)

Growing up my mother would make real whipped cream.  Of course this always made me want to buy Cool Whip or Redi Whip even more!  She bought cool whip once for me to take to school.  I ended up sneaking it each night before I went to bed.  She did not catch on till I needed to bring it into school. (See what happens when you deprive your kids  ;D :P)

I'm more of a Redi Whip girl myself... for all of the above mentioned reasons ;)   But I have to say our family always did Cool Whip for holidays, but that's usually the ONLY time it's my choice of topping.
Whipping your own is great if you can get the ratio of sugar and vanilla to cream right, even off by a bit and it's odd ( to my tast buds anyway).    Oh and Cream is NOT my friend, or should I say it's too friendly, it likes to hang around on my hips and belly... UGH
Only Time will tell.. it's just too bad she's a closed mouth B**!!!

Do you have the French Vanilla cool whip in the UK?  Now I have to admit that I do like that.  I made a tiramisu recipe on the package a few years ago, and it was quite a hit!  But I really don't equate it with whipped cream, I guess I think of it more along the lines of sauces you put on ice cream or something.

Real whipped cream is in a class all its own.  Long live the cow!!!  :)

I'm quite happy to eat pie without anything on top of it.

Whipped cream and it's variants are better for other things.  ;D
