Chicago spousal visa experience

Completed e-fastrack on the 9th and paid online.  Made appointment for this morning. Drove to the loop, parked at the Grant Park north underground parking. Walked about 5-6 blocks to the Wrigley building.  Arrive about 15 minutes early, went to desk where the guard checked my name against the list and had me sign in. I was given a number and told to go ahead to the 13th floor.  There were only 5 numbers in front of me.  Waited about 15 minutes before being called.

Chap what I was applying for, I told him spousal, and that we had been married over five years.  He asked if I read the documentation list. I told him I had it all there. He lookked it all over and told me to come back at 2:30. (please double check your paperwork. Two out of the 5 in front of me had to go try to get documentation faxed in.)

Walked around, ate lunch, went to the Art Institute, ate ice cream and returned as requested.  Took about 5 minutes to get the visa.

Visa says multi entry.  Indefinite leave to enter.  Woohoo.

494 for the visa
12 for gas
5 for a crumbly cinnamon muffin and coffee
8 for lunch
12 for the museum
5 for a Mc Flurry and coke.
14 for parking.

Moving to England...
A lot more than that!

Thanks Jetlag for posting your experience, I'm getting my spousal visa in Chicago next Sept. 

By chance, do you know what the documentation the people in front of you had to try to have faxed?  J/W so I don't do the same thing.  I'm guessing they just didn't follow the instructions on the British Consulate site for all of the documents to bring? 

I believe they were looking for work visas, so the docs may differ.

I wasn't asked for anything not on the list.
He was most interested in the marrige cert, passports, bank statements ( my support for a bit, I'm afraid), and the evidence of accommodation in the UK.

Friendly people there, just double check everything before you go.

6 hours til I get on the bus.

I had a similar pleasant experience at the Los Angeles visa office.  This is my second time applying for my FLR as I let the the first one run out without applying for my ILR (I got first FLR in Taiwan and it was also very smooth going).  I posted the pre-November 14 application, a money order, all documents (and a little more) via Fed Ex on Monday November 21 and had a beautiful little settlement sticker in my passport that once again says multi entry and Indefinite leave to enter the UK the very next Monday November 28. That would be a double woo-hoo for me!!  And once again, thanks to all on this site who gave me advice on my sticky situation (but not really sticky after all).
