Wonderful!  I'd be very interested to hear how applied for your partner's visa goes... I did read somewhere that if you do the civil union in VT he should be able to apply for a visa as your spouse, but I'd love to hear your account of how it goes.

I'd like to know as well.  Seems like it will be up to whomever reviews the our request to interpret if we qualify.  As the Civil Partnership Act happens 5/12/05, and my permit should happen right around that time, we're wondering if we are going to be the 'test couple'.

if you are the test couple good luck to you - but I'm sure loads of people have already applied, and like with San Fransisco and MA, they had certain couples picked out - model relationships going 50 plus years kind of thing.

on that note, Does anyone know if both applicants can be non-citizens?  My assumption is that one or both had to be citizens.  My partner and I are on US nationals with 5 year work visas - can we apply?  Or should we even bother since I read somewhere that our other marriages (MA, and CA domestic partnership) count as the same and will automatically be recognized??

Lastly, does registering speed up the process for citizenship ?  I think I read somewhere that after you register, you can apply for leave to remain in two years, rather than three.  any clue?

thanks,
grant
