Work for an unwed partner
« on: November 26, 2005, 09:23:55 AM »
So I'm just beginning to sift through everything I to know about going to university in the UK. The thought just reoccurred to me the other day and now I'm on a mad dash to get over there by next school year (if that's even possible). One of my big questions right now is about work. As a student I can work a part-time job without a work permit. If my girlfriend wants to work full-time and not go to school, she'll need a work permit, won't she? It only makes sense but I haven't seen anything specific to this and it would make things much easier if I lucked out with this one.

this question has already been addressed in the visa section.  the parameters regarding bringing unmarried partners to the UK are different if his/her partner is coming over as a student.

Do we know the answer to this?  Is there a link to a different topic that covers it?  I've used the search and didn't come up with anything.  Let's try to be helpful. :)

I reckon she was just trying to refer him to the visa section because the guy has posted the same question in about 3 different places this morning... i think she was just trying to refer him back to one of the other places where he asked the question.

He asked about a work permit, was told to ask about a student permit, he did and was told to look elsewhere.

If someone knows the answer great-and it's the weekend so it may take few days, if you don't-and I confess I have no idea-then let's just let it stay and see what happens.

For future reference if someone asks the same question or posts multiple topics just use the report to mod button, we don't always notice that kind of thing right away and we can merge it for you.   :)
