Recommendations for lunch in York?

My wife is having a well deserved break from the kids and is meeting a friend from London to spend the day in York - any recommendations for a good place for lunch for them??

Criteria are:

- not too busy
- no smoking
- no more than £10 for a main course
- the kind of place you can linger!

Any recommendations?
