Married while on vacation?
« on: March 08, 2006, 11:02:36 PM »
HI all

Looking for some information on getting married.  I am an american who has been living in England with my british partner for the past two years. (I am a dual citizen of the US/UK which allows me to live here without a visa because I have a british passport and an american passport)

We are going out to visit my family soon and we were thinking of getting married by a justice of the peace.  Is this possible without needed any special visa for my partner?

We are planning on return back to the UK to live, we are just going over for a vacation but thought it would be nice to marry so my family can witness our happy day.

We are not planning on living in the US for I have made the UK my home.  We may plan to live in the US in about 10 years time.

Not sure if there is any legal issues with getting married in the US and then returning to the UK.

Any info would be appreciated.

thanks.

no legal/visa issues- your partner can come in on visa waiver and get married in the states if you guys are going back to the UK to live, no problems. :)
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12
