But, Garry, wouldn't that only affect British Citizens at birth who subseqently wanted to naturalize in another country?  Here in the US, I had to swear to renounce my birth citizenship, but according to that country I'm still a citizen and there's really nothing the US can do about that.  So if an American naturalized as British, I can't see how that would affect their American citizenship even if Britain decided to 'outlaw' dual nationality.

Yes.  That's the line of thinking.  They can't do anything about it other than to refuse or to strip British citizenship.

But it's way way too early in the process to tell, and they haven't put any shape on it yet.  They are debating about it.

I have a small question about the ILR....  I will be making an appointment in Feb to get my ILR (yes!) and I don't work. They won't frown on that will they? ???

Geesh, will I be happy when it's all over with! 8)

You will be fine! I take it you are married to a Brit and he is the provider? You are getting your ILR because you live over here and you are married to a UK citizen. ILR has nothing to do with whether you have a job or not.

Best wishes! It is a good feeling knowing you are one step closer to never having to fill out an immigration form again.  ;)

Yes Jules, we'll be married two years in March (in fact, we got my visa in NY whilst on our honeymoon), and yes he has been working for 28+ years at the same place.

P.S. Thanks Jules. ;) You wouldn't believe the pile of "stuff" that we have accumulated that have addresses for him, for me, for us...or would you? HA!

Yes, got my ILR back in June.

Luckily I was pretty good at saving all of the documents I needed....his, mine and ours!  ;)
