I had never heard of "Pocky" but  it reminded me of a choc dipped biscuit I loved getting from France- I have found it occasionally in specialist stores in the UK, but it might be an alternative if you have friends that go to France regularly.

Warning: totally *delish* and addictive, I think they cost about 1 Euro on the ferries too.

It looks just like Pocky, I'll look out for that thanks Sheril (we chocoholics must stick together!).

Those look like something that might be sold in Lidl's. Has anyone looked?

Instead of thinking about all the foods you're going to miss...think about all the new stuff you get to try!! I'm stuck in the states right now, and I would kill to have chips from a chippy, wkd blue, areo bars, a kinder egg or go to a pub. My mom mailed me a few peanut butter m&m's while I was in the UK, but other than that, I just got over it and found new foods.

Absolutely. There are so many more British foods than American foods that I'd miss.

You are all welcome on Rosslyns. It's a fantastic deli and they have great sandwiches and cheese as well.

Selfridges on Oxford Street (Bond Street tube station) also has a selection of American products. They are on a shelf labeled "Cult Foods" where you can get Oreos and Lucky Charms cereal for some ridiculous price like 7 pounds a box. They also had Chef-Boy-R-Dee and other oddities.

I've never even heard of peanut butter M&Ms even in the states!  But you can get peanut and regular M&Ms at just about any newsagent or Sainsburys. Here's another London place for American sweets:

http://www.cybercandy.co.uk/

This tiny shop is located near Covent Garden.  Last time I was there, they barely had any of the products aftertised on the website. But they did have rootbeer and some other goodies.

As for Yorkie: There are several versions of this bar in different colored-wrappers. The one I had definately contained crispies.  Another has solid chocolate and yet another has nuts. They all have little sayings on the back, which are either funny or sexist depending on how sensitive you are about that sort of stuff. My personal favorite: "Do not feed to the birds"  (i.e. British lads often refer to young women as "birds").

And one final note for ginger ale fans. It is usually NOT located in the soda aisle. It took several months before we realized that our Sainsburys does in fact carry ginger ale, but it was located in the "mixers" aisle, where you will also find stuff like margarita and bloody mary mix, tonic, grenadine, etc.

In my supermarket, it's with the soda water and tonic -- but it's called "American style gingerale" or something like that. Definitely has the word "American" in the name. I assume that's what is sold in the US, but I'm not sure as I'm not a soda person.

Nope. Still waiting.  :(  Although I did have a card through the letterbox yesterday saying that there was a package that needed my signature. Not sure if that's it, but it's being re-delivered tomorrow. Ever hopeful!  :)

I keep forgetting to post! Yes, they arrived ... and ... they're already gone!! I gave 2 boxes away and ate the other 3 myself. Wow, they go quickly! You were so right. I bought the chocolate flavoured ones and the milk flavoured ones. I liked them (obviously), but wouldn't say I'm so hooked on them that I need to order more. They were good, though. I like the fact that they're not overly sweet -- they're almost like skinny breadsticks with the ends dipped in chocolate!
