did it a bit backwards, but it all worked out

We did buy plane tickets a week or so ago and hadn't yet gotten our visas, which I know is a bit backwards, but I just got an e-mail that they have been approved and issued!

The courrier that we used will be picking them up at 4:00 today.

It has been an incredibly long day just waiting. The applications were taken in at 9:00 this morning. I am so emotionally drained from the anticipation. I think I'm off for a nap.

I did the same..when I was in UK I had to go back to the US for my visa,so I bought a roundtrip ticket..I ended up having to change the date after I got my visa ($90 fee!!!!) So I could get back here a week sooner :)

Wonderful! Congratulations ;D

I always wondered about the buying plane tickets thing myself~ I guess the trick is to just make sure you're able to change the dates if necessary...
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12

And it's about time, isn't it? Oh my goodness the amount of planning and the amount of paperwork to fill out. I feel like it has been my full time job lately. I took an enormous sigh of relief once the visas were issued.

Now I am looking forward to kicking back on the airplane and hopefully being able to take a bit of a rest.

I booked my ticket weeks before my visa arrived since I was given the go ahead that all was in order. This was before there were delays with the work permit signatures and the home office not telling anyone until asked what was taking so long. It was all so last minute, I had to make the extra trip down to LA just to get it same day... and then 12 hours later was on a flight to the UK. Thankfully, I didn't have to discover how to change a plane ticket less than 24-48 hours in advance!  :P
