UK Unmarried Partner Visa - School in France
« on: December 15, 2005, 01:14:42 PM »
Hi All,

I received my unmarried partner visa (I'm the dependent) in February and now I'm going to be attending school in France for a year.  Does anyone have experience with this type of a situation.  I'll probably need a French student visa, but will that affect the status of my UK unmarried partner visa?

p.s. I HIGHLY recommend going through a lawyer for the unmarried partner visa...we wrote a check and they made all the problems go away.

If you spend too much time out of the UK then it will affect the status of your UP visa, and would lead to problems when you apply for ILR.  I would recommend that you visit the UK as often as possible, try not to leave absences of more than three months, and make sure that you retain links to the UK such a s abank account and your name on your apartment lease.
