Hi all-
This is my first year here eating Christmas pudding, and in the interests of scientific exploration, I have had 3 different kinds so far :-). What I found interesting is that the most expensive one, bought at the Borough Market here in London, was the one I liked the least. It tasted too strongly of alcohol for my taste, and the pudding was very homogeneous in texture - you couldn't really tell the difference between the nuts, fruit, and pudding parts. Whereas my favorite one, eaten in a local restaurant for Christmas lunch, was varied in texture, with big chunks of nuts, easily differentiated fruit, etc. But my least favorite received rave reviews from critics, so I wonder if it's my uneducated palate?
So what makes a good Christmas pudding to you? I'd love to know....
Aline
PS - I have 2 more to go (received as gifts): 1 from Fortnum and Masons, 1 from M&S. The research will continue....
