Has anyone took their newborn into a pool? If so,how did they react?
I hear babies naturally love being in the pool because of being in the womb. I'm considering taking Courtney to the local pool here. Whats everyones expierances?

I don't have my own kids but I have worked as a nanny for more than 10 years and I have never met a baby who did not enjoy being in water. They have usually not acquired any water-related fear yet and are so relaxed and comfortable in the water. One important thing to remember is that they do get colder in water than we do so shorter dips may be better-hot tubs ( if not too hot) can be great too. Have fun!
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Mine was born in October, and all our municipal pools are outdoors, so he didn't get a chance to get into a pool until he was around 8 months.  But he did like it.  Once he realized it was just a giant bathtub for splashing, he had a blast.  Be warned, though - chlorinated water can dry their skin a LOT.  If Courtney tends to have dry skin, make sure you lube her up with lotion when you get her dressed. :)

Both of my boys loved to swim as babies. Its a great idea about lotion after the pool.

Up here in Scotland they reccommend that you wait until they have received their first 3 sets of immunizations before you take them to the pool. You might want to check with your HV to see what they say there.

We took DS to the pool when he was a few months old and he realy didn't like it.  We never could figure out if he was cold or to open for him.  We kept trying and he loves it now,  as another poster said, just a big bath tub.
