Bank Statement Question
« on: January 16, 2006, 08:11:34 PM »
Hi,

I am going to the British Consulate in NYC next week and I am wondering if the consulate will accept an internet copy of my joint savings account.  My partner and I have a joint HSBC savings account in the UK and the statements are sent quarterly. The last statement we received was in October and the next one is due in February.  I asked my partner if he could just pop in to an HSBC in London and ask for a recent statement but he said they wouldn't do that. Does anyone know the answer to this?

All of our bank statements were electronic copies and they didn't say anything about it. I think you should be fine.

Of course they'll do it.  Just tell the lady you need the last 6 months worth of statements.

I thought that was a bit odd, too. Thanks for clearing that up, I'll let him know.

The HSBC are very good also I have found them very helpful, I do all mine over the phone or internet and have had no problems but they need to be asked as soon as possible thought I think it takes a week to get the statements printed and sent out then you will have to allow for post from the UK to the states I have sent letters its taken 4/5 days to get from here to Chris when he was in Boston but it could take longer either way.

When I got my flat - the estate agent needed 6 months of bank statement (unfortunately they wouldn't take online statements and all of mine were in storage).  Popped into Nationwide (not even my branch) and they printed them off right there for me. Ace!
