Wanna Get Our Options
« on: January 18, 2006, 09:46:33 PM »
Hello all,

myself a (USC) and my husband a (UKC) currently in the USA.
we have been talking... and in a year to two years we will be moving back to the UK to live, but we want to get everything in hand before we do so what kind of visa will i and my daughter of 11 need to move back with him at the same time, so we dont have to be apart from him, plus although we are closer to New York can we take our vacation in chicago and apply for which ever visa myself and my daughter will need there instead of going to New York to do this?, i have been doing alot of reading over your fourms for the past couple of months, and been getting more confused on what steps we will need to move back to the UK with him. Also since we will be living with my husbands parents for a while, does that make him present and settled even though hes in the US? Oh and also what surporting documents do we need to take along with us when we go to the UK Consulate Office, and its fine to take my Husband with me?
Thanks,

Becky.

Which consulate you use is dependent upon your state of residence.  If you live closer to New York, you'll probably have to apply there.

The rest of it is explained clearly here: http://www.britainusa.com/visas/other_show.asp?SarticleType=25&Other_ID=322

Your husband can go with you to the Consulate and you will have to provide proof from your in-laws that you can live with them upon your arrival in the UK (a letter is fine for this).
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…
