I finally got around to reading this thread. OMG. I have to get down to St George's market!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

Let me know what you think. The guy wraps it up in a tin for takeaway... enchiladas would taste better reheated in an oven than a microwave, but hey you can't ask for everything!

You do wonder why TacoBell is asleep at the wheel in terms of opening up some joints here. All the natives are pining for it and it would somehow escape the "Supersize Me"-baggage.
Ewww.  I would love to find a decent Mexican restaurant in the UK, but I'm rather glad that Taco Bell isn't over there.  It might make some people think that slop was genuine Mexican food.  Or genuine food, for that matter.   :-X

(I'm not the biggest fan of fast food...does it show? :P )

oh but c'mon... don't you ever get in the mood where seeing a two Starbucks, McDonald's, KFC, Subway, Burger King and Domino's all on the same street (as my high street is) make your heart flutter with fondness of home?  ;)  ;) When the Noah's, Jamba Juice, and Taco Bell comes then I will definitely feel at "home" in England.... and a hole in the wall taqueria would do quite nicely too  ;)

I often daydream of opening up one of those hole-in-the-walls. The Mexican restaurants that have come (and gone) here have been bigger to-do's than the little family joints I have in mind.

Starbucks is my homesick fix. Walk in and you could be anywhere, which for me is back home in Cali.

hehe....the town I grew up in didn't really have any big fast food chains there.  There was on Taco Time, a small pizza parlor, and a mom & pop type burger place (the kind that do amazing milkshakes in about 29348324 different flavors).  It apparently has a bunch of fast food places now, but it didn't when I lived there and that is how I'll remember it! ;)

If you are in London, there is a decent place called Chimichanga that does all the standards on the riverbank at Canary Wharf. It's not the Mexican experience of a lifetime but it's tasty enough and good for a fix. Also, you can take the ferry from central London (Savoy Pier or Festival Pier) and get a table by the river on a summer's night.

For anyone in Manchester, I found a place that does pretty good burritos called Barburrito in Picadilly Gardens. Cheap too! And the flour tortillas were actually edible.
Not exactly a replacement for Mexican food back home, but enough to satisfy me until I get back home.
