English Wedding Traditions

My best friend, Beth, is an amazing wedding cake baker.  She will make a lemon sponge with a filling of fresh raspberries and lemon custard.  She makes a fantastic icing that is like buttercream but lighter, and flavored lightly with vanilla.  It will be decorated with fresh red roses.  Oh - and the cake will be oval in shape.    I can't wait to see it out of my head and made for real!!

Now we just need a K-1 visa for the groom!! 

I won't have to worry about the whole processional thing.  No kiddies in the wedding, and not train on the dress.  Just me walking down by myself, I'm a bit old to have daddy giving me away, and he did that at "another wedding" about 16 years ago and everyone knows it, so I think it would just be a bit silly.  Two friends of honor, and one best man, so we will be a bit lopsided but we don't care.  No bride's maids dresses, they will wear long black evening gowns and carry white roses, I will wear an ivory sheath dress with pearls all over and a halter neckline and carry red roses.  Simon will wear a black double breasted suit with an ivory shirt and deep red silk tie.

Now we just need a K-1 visa for the groom!!    Yep - I said that already...hehehe

Kidding ... but seriously, lemon cake with raspberries has always been the cake I've dreamt of having at my wedding! Lucky you!!

Ooooo!!  I would love to know where you got this, do you remember?  We have little crossed flags on our "save the date" cards which will be going out soon.  I would love to have a pin like this also.

We had a white tiered wedding cake, and my Mom made the groom's cake chocolate decorated to look like a Union Jack.
