ATM machines

Probably a very stupid question, but will I be able to use my UK ATM/debit card in ATM machines in the US?

Probably. Does you card have a Cirrus or Mastercard logo on it? If so you  should be able to use it.  I have used my Royal Bank of Scotland Highline card at money machines in the US with no problem.

Oh, I didn't even read your post that way!  I knew what you meant!   ;D

Thanks!  I figured I would be fine, but didn't want to count on being able to use my card and then find that I couldn't.

I'd suggest calling your bank as well to let them know you are heading to the States...just good so that you don't have to make a call from the US to your bank...

A bit of a delay in responding but wanted to say this is a very good idea. When Jon came to America for our wedding his debit card was suddenly turned off. When he phoned they said it was because there were suddenly charges in America. We don't make that mistake now.

It's always best to phone your bank and let them know when you'll be making charges that out of the ordinary.
There are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared:  twins.
