Spouse/Partner of EEA National question
« on: February 20, 2006, 12:56:23 PM »
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone here applied for FLR as a spouse of an EEA national. I believe the form is EEC2 or something similar and there is no fee, but one would have to mail the application to the HO since there are no appointments given for this application. I know the HO website says that it can take up to 6 months to process but I was wondering how long it actually took those who applied for it to get their passports back?
My partner is an EU national (Italian) who has been present in the UK for about 9 years now. He is eligible to apply officially for permanent residency, but we will be going to Paris in April and I am trying to figure out which route would be the fastest at this point. The HO has told him that since he has lived in the UK for so long there will be no fee applied for ILR, which I am assuming he will have to mail in. I would prefer he apply for permanent residency because then I could apply for the 2 year spousal visa instead of the 5 year spouse of EEA national. Any ideas?

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, the the HO has the current wait time for these applications here: http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/ind/en/home/applying/making_an_application.html
