insurance

alright...so I have a question. Don't know if it's been covered already. (I'm sure it has). Is it required in England, like it is in the US, to have vehicle insurance. I'm thinking I will probably just get a motorcycle (maybe even just a moped) for while I'm there. I only need transportation for weekend trips, etc. Do I need to get insurance for that?

I'm fairly sure you will have to have insurance. Also, if you're planning to be here longer than a year, you'll need a UK driving license (your US license will only be valid for 12 months).

hiya

Yes you will need insurance to ride a motorcycle or a moped. Like belindaloo mentions, your US license is only valid for 1 year before you need to get a UK one so bear that in mind.

recommendation for you - visit the UK eBay site and look for a seller called 'theinternetbikeshop'  - some fantastic deals and a range there, plus you can view the bikes before purchase.

Ok thats enough of a plug for my younger bro's company!  ;)

Cheers !

awww...haha...OK, I'll go have a look on eBay then! Glad you recommended him actually cos I wanted to get one off eBay but I've always been kinda leery about purchasing a vehicle off there. Ya know? But since you've given him a good word, I might swing by and check it out!  :D

:)  currently we are the UK's largest eBay power seller of Road Legal, Scooters, Bikes, Quads etc. We have always allowed ebay buyers to pop in and take a look at all our products and ranges which we beleive instills a sense of trust and adds a good customer experience. I'm up at the warehouse from time to time, so let me know if you're popping up and it may coincide with me being there.

We also look after all the process of registering the bike (road legal ones of course!) to make the whole process as smooth as possible.

Cheers for now!

well, where is the warehouse located?? (that almost sounds like a nursery rhyme or something! haha) cos I'm here in Houston now. And I'll be in London once I get over there.

Hiya!

Our new warehouse is in Hemel Hempstead about 3/4 mile off the M1 motorway(about 10-15 miles north of the outskirts or NW London) . You have to pass by all the blown out and damaged buildings from the oil depot that blew up in december and our unit is about 600 yards away from the explosion site!

Luckily, our building sustained very minimal damage, also, we were frantic for 3 days as we did'nt know if it had fallen to the ground during the immediate aftermath of the Buncefield explosion! We had only signed the contracts 4 days prior!

We are trading after the intense office/stock move 2 weekends ago and we'll be nicely settled within the next 6-8 weeks or so - perfect for when you can pop over to take a look!

Our website is under construction/updating and once ready I'll post up the link to it here for everyone to take a moozy on at!

Cheers for now!
