I just found out over my midterm today that my previous, dear Hindi teacher Nidhi just had a big Hindu wedding in San Francisco yesterday!!  

Lol just couldn't help posting that here, I am so excited for her.

Has anyone here ever been to a South Asian wedding?

If not you are all invited to mine 5 or so years from now lol!

I've been to a Japanese wedding in Japan.  That's the most exotic for me.  The most fun weddings have got to be Polish-American weddings-drink, dancing, dollar dances-always a good time.  

Lol true! As corny and as embarassing as they are--there is something really cute about weddings where the music is kind of lame, half the guests are semi-plastered and everyone feels free to tell embarassing jokes about the bride and groom.

At the Japanese wedding was the bride wearing a Kimono? Probably. I can definately say when properly tied with the Obi (big belt) and everything those are not comfy!

Though a heavy loom, silk sari + all the Kundun (wedding) jewelries isn't too accomodating either---I nonetheless am completely humoured by the vision of several women in saris trying to dance in the wedding conga line lol!
