Advice for applying for UK Spouse Visa...
« on: February 05, 2006, 02:39:04 AM »
Hi everyone!!

I'm SO glad I found this site! Its just what I've been looking for.  My husband and I got married in November and I am going to join him in Glasgow this in May.  I'm beginning to prepare the documents we'll need for me to apply for a Spouse Visa and am wondering if anyone can give me tips or share what they experienced when they applied.
Thank you :)

I'm a bit nervous because my husband and I do not have much savings...does anyone know if this will be a problem?  I've spent the last year trying to pay off college loans and debt to go there with zero debt and luckily will be able to.  But, I'll be going there with probably $500 and he makes is a musician and although he has a full-time job, he doesn't make enough to support us without me working (I'll be the "breadwinner").  So, we'll be staying with his family to save on rent, etc.. while I look for a job.  His family will write a letter saying they will support me and I guess will have to be a cosponsor??
Should I be worried?? Cuz, I am!

You should be fine if his parents are willing to write a letter of support. They'll need to include 3 months worth of bank statements and either a copy of their mortgage to show they own their home and you can stay there or a copy of their lease and a letter from the landlord saying it's okay for you to stay there. You should be fine with that.

There are a ton of threads about applying for your visa. You should take a look at the Visas & Citizenship section and I'm sure you'll have a lot of your questions answered. You might want to start with the thread where everyone shared their experience:
