marriage and the HSMP application
« on: January 31, 2006, 01:36:03 PM »
Is there a "must be married this long" condition on the HSMP Part 6? On the form, it just stipulates two years for unmarried partners, but I have long ago learned not to rely only on the information provided with a form.

On further searching through the regulations, it states that you only get points for your partner's qualifications if you have been together for two years, regardless of whether or not you are married.

Thanks! That was what I was guessing, but good to have it confirmed. :-)

Follow-up question: even if one had been married for less than two years, one's spouse can still accompany (work, etc.) on an HSMP visa if it's issued, correct?

Oh yeah, that's no problem, it's just that her/his qualifications wouldn't count in the points calculations.
