Immigration to the US
« on: February 02, 2006, 10:24:13 AM »

Hi Guys

I have recently graduated at Master's level. I am an archaeologist by trade and am looking to move over and work in the US.

I find the US visa system very confusing and was wondering if anyone had advice. My current understanding is I would need sponsorship from a workplace to get a work visa, which would last three years but could be renewed for another two.

Any advice would be gratefully received as I am keen to spread my wings ASAP.

Best

S.

Hi! I am a USC currently living in the UK with my spouse. We're in the process of obtaining a visa for him, so I don't have a lot of information about US immigration that doesn't deal with spousal visas...but, just wanted to point you to a forum that deals with US immigration and most of the people on there have moved from the UK so they might be able to help you. The forum is www.diveintoamerica.com

Hope to see you over there and good luck!

Hello there... I'm going to move this to Visas & Citizenship board, as you might get more support there. Also, there are UK to US websites that might be quite helpful to you, here are a few:

I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

I have been through all the 'immigration' process of moving to UK from US and spent 3 years over there.  I went on a fiancee visa and then got married.

I belonged to a forum that helped me through the process a great deal - which was www.visajourney.com

Hope that helps and good luck with your process.

Pauline.
