Have you looked into getting your motor LPG converted?

{.....}

I'm assuming a Chevy Camper isn't Supercharged

No, it was built on a 1979   P30 van which just has the old Chevy 350 cu. in. V8 with normal carburetor.   LP gas conversion did cross my mind briefly, but to be honest I don't really do enough mileage in it -- It would take so long to recoup the conversion cost that it wouldn't be worthwhile, especially given that it's only a "cheapie" and nothing special.

Running on LPG is catching on gradually, although around here the choice of filling stations which carry it is still rather limited.   I can go to one of the many marinas around this area to fill up the coach's propane tank (for cooking, heating, etc.).

So, I want to be sure I"m getting the order right.

1.  Get provisional license
2. Take written test
3. Take road test

Is that correct?  I have 2 months to accomplish all of this  - yikes!  I'm going to try and speed up the provisional part by going in person.

as you're a US citizen, with a US passport, i don't think you can get a provisional licence in person.  i had to send my passport away with the forms I collected at the post office.

a tip about the scheduling of the written/road test.  when you go to book these online or on the phone the next available date may be several weeks/month off.  tell them that you'll take a cancellation.  i ended up pulling my practical test (road test) up three weeks b/c i was willing to do it at the last minute.  now, i had a very understanding company b/c i was getting this licence so that i could fulfill part of my job.  good luck.

Yep you can't get it in person.  Have to fill in the form, send off the passport, wait the 2 weeks, etc.

So, yours just took 2 weeks?  Also, what if you have an emergency and need your passport back?

You shouldn't send it if you need it within the time the DVLA says it will take.  I think they say 3 weeks but mine didn't take that long.

Keep a copy naturally!  In case of emergencies.
