American children's song - forgotton the words
« on: February 09, 2006, 09:10:17 AM »
Greets!

I wanted to sing baby Nick an old American children's song, but have forgotten the words.  It starts out like

"Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts,
Mutilated monkey meat, (something something something) feet,
Something something something Something something something
Something something something Something something something
And I forgot my spoon!

Does anybody know the exact words?

Here ya go Garry!

Googled it!

Great green gobs of greasy grimey gopher guts,
Mutiliated monkey meat,
Chopped up birdie feet!

French fried eyeballs mixed in with baby mush,

I for-got my spoon!

So I'll use a straw...

I'm sure baby Nick will love it!!

Garry -- if you google it, there are several different versions.  This is the version I knew:

Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts
Mutilated monkey meat  Chopped up baby parakeet
French-fried eyeballs swimming in a pool of blood
Whoops!  I forgot my spoon...
But I didn't forget my straw!  Slurrrrrrp!

Hey MeShell -- I sang that bumblebee song at Girl Scouts camp! :)
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

- from Anthem, by Leonard Cohen (b 1934)
