Fiance Visa - Help
« on: January 27, 2006, 12:58:14 PM »
Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but i cant seem to find the answer!

My partner has her interview in 10 days and we are starting to get nervous.
She is Turkish and was here as an Au Pair and her visa ran out in August last year, so she she went home to Turkey.  She applied for a Student Visa but was refused.  Will the rejection count against her on the Fiance Application?

We have no real marriage plans as such yet, but will set dates and make plans once she is here.  Is this likely to be a problem and will the embassy require and documents showing what plans we have made?

I hope somebody can put my mind at rest.

Many thanks

Ricky

The refusal will be a problem if they suspected that she was lying in the student visa application.  However, if it is the case that they simply did not believe that she intended to leave at the end of her stay, then she should be okay.

Not having real marriage plans will be a major problem.  A fiancee visa is designed for people who intend to marry within 6 months of entry to the UK.  They will ask her where you intend to get married - it is fine if you have nothing arranged yet but she must at least show that you have spoken about it and have a rough idea of the kind of wedding you want and roughly when you will have it.

Thanks Victoria,

We have made plans and talked about it, I just meant we haven't actually put them in place and booked anything.  I hope this will be enough...

That should be okay.  The last fiancee visa I did was a friend who was from Romania who has also had had a refusal in the past.  She and her boyfriend still hadn't decided whether it was going to be a church wedding, whether it would be in London or near his parents, and I think that the ECO felt that their indecision was more convincing of a genuine relationship!!!

My last fiance was at the Etkatrinburg Consulate (Siberia) and we had a provisional booking at the registry office and an email thread from the seamstress who was doing the wedding dress.   ::)   But I see nothing wrong with getting a provisional booking - it costs £30 - £35.

Just to let you know, that my fiance got her visa.
It was alot easier than we thought and the Embassy asked very few questions.
Thanks for all your help Victoria and Garry.

Just another quick question - Today is my fiances first day at home by herself and I think she is already bored!!  We will be getting married in July, so she obviously wont be able to work until after that.  Under her Visa conditions do you know if she is allowed to enrol on any type of short term course, whether it be Knitting for beginners or advanced Astro Physics?!

Thanks

Ricky
