hi everyone,
David & I went to NYC this past Thursday to get mine & my sons's visa. we arrived at the building early. There were these Big American & British Flags on the building so it was easy to find.
We checked in.. one good thing--- if your British Fiance comes with you. As long as he has his passport he can go in the buliding with you he doesn't have to be on your appointment.
anyway we went in and got in line there were only 4 people there at our time slot. We went up to the window and had our interview. We had a great girl. she was about 8 months along with her second child. she was very nice.
We were very prepared. everything she asked for we had ready, she told us that helps alot.
My visa went very quick, my son's took a bit more. They acutally wanted to see a copy of my divorce papers where is states that I have sole custody, she told us they are getting very strict with child visa's. She made sure the birth Father doesn't have visitation nor does he pay support, she told us if the birth Father has any set visitation or pays suppot-- they will no longer give a child visa. so I was very glad I had that aready set. and I also had a notorised letter from the Birth Father giving his permission for my son to live in the UK.
so about 10 minutes later she took the stuff to her boss and came back and said your all set come back in about and hour to pick up your visa's !!!!
I can't tell you how happy we were !!
it was a long hard week David and & were supposed to go to our appointment on Monday but NY was hit with 35 inches of snow and when we got to the airport all flights were cancelled !! I started to cry I was so upset. and we were afraid to do another appointment cuz your not supposed to have more than one appointment. but we got back to the hotel and made another one for Thursday, and then all went just fine..
So now we are back at home in the UK !!!
Thanks to all of you for your support !! this site is awesome..
David & I will be married March 25 YAY next month
