Grocery delivery
« on: March 01, 2006, 09:48:52 AM »
Of all the stores that deliver groceries, is any one better than another in your experience?  Have you had consistantly good or bad service with a particular store?  What about ordering things like produce and meat?  I don't know how I feel about someone else picking out my produce and meat.  Anything else I should know?  I've never had my groceries delivered before.  Thanks!

The best thing is to just try out each store a couple of times as the quality really seems to vary according to location.  I've had Asda deliveries for the past couple of years and don't have a single complaint, though others on the boards have had bad experiences.

I actually just had mine delivered for the first time this week.  I used Sainsbury's and only have positive things to say.

The delivery was actually early, all product that were substituted came in a blue bag, rather then the regular carrier bag from Sainsbury's.  All expiry dates were great, nothing going off the next day.  The woman who delivered explained everything to me before she brought in the delivery.  All in all a great experience.

The thing I really love about shopping on-line is seeing exactly how much you are spending.  Only bad thing is they may not always have everything you want.

I prefer Tesco's delivery to Asda's.
My local Asda seems to choose some very weird substitutions for things i've ordered.

We dont have a Sainsburys delivery in my area, but i wish we did, cos i prefer to shop there.

You might find some of this thread useful.  I think the general consensus is that Ocado (Waitrose) is generally the best. I have used them in the past, also Tesco but now I am back with Sainsburys as they now have one hour delivery slots like Ocado and are a bit cheaper.   But they do dump your stuff at the door whereas Ocado always carry it to the kitchen for you without having to be asked.

Thanks for the link, Britwife!  I did a search before I posted, but didn't find this thread.
