Help! advice needed.
« on: March 09, 2006, 04:12:24 AM »
My boyfriend and I have been together almost a year now. He is a UK citzen, I am a US citizen which makes life hard as I'm sure many of you know. We met online and decided to meet. The first attempt was a disaster. I ended up being denied entry basically because i got scared. A red flag went up in their heads when they saw me at first because I am/was only 19, so they decided to investigate me, my lucky day. So they interrogated me and i said some things i shouldnt have. They sent me back mainly because they didn't think I had enough money. They knew i eas staying with my boyfriend but they wanted to know that i had more than just the 500$ cash(i had two credit cards and a debit card as well). They also didn't like the length of time i wanted to stay(2-3 months). And finally the kicker i lied at first about us being more than just friends mainly because i was still embarrassed about how we met, but i did come clean the second time they asked me. Anyway so i was denied entry. So he decided to come here. And we met here. I was denied entry Nov. 17 2005 and he arrived here Jan 13th(his birthday also friday the 13th :/). We hit it off SO well. Wverything went fantastic. I showed him around. We went to Dc, Philly, and Baltimore. He stayed with my parents and i for almost 3 weeks. Anyway this is what i need advice on: I want to go to the UK now, and obviously i am scared to DEATH. I need to know the best way to go about this using my money and time efficently. He wants me to be there for my birthday, April 30th. I want to know what the best, cheapest, and easiest way to get there. I know I'm going to have to get a visa now because of what happened, but how long does it take? How can i get entry clearance? Soemone fill me in please! -thanks to all who took the time to read this and help me out.

Hi Reinii,

My best advice to you is to correct every single thing the IO said was wrong. My second suggestion is to shorten the length of your trip.

Did the IO tell you that you should apply for a visa before coming back? I know some people get told that. If so, you should look into it. Otherwise, just make sure your situation has changed enough that you think they will allow you in. If you come back without a visa you will be automatically detained and the IO is going to ask you what is different now. You will have to convince them that they should change their minds on the decision. If you come in under the same circumstances (staying for an extended period, only $500 cash, etc) they will turn you right back around again.

It's quite straight-forward...
