The biggest risk group for contracting Men C are teens and young adults, that's why you won't find it on the US childhood immunisation schedule.
We have not had Roisin immunised at all so far.
Our first daughter, as you know, has experienced developmental delays which have no known genetic or medical cause. The delays were first addressed at her 8-month check, but I noticed them long before. She was vaccinated w/the old, thiomersol-containing jabs. I had NO idea jabs containing a known neurotoxin were being given to 2-month-old infants, or that a mercury-free jab was in fact available upon request - at a cost of $1 more/jab. Those jabs were removed in the US about 10 years ago, for obvious reasons. In fact, there's a new paper out from the AAP about the potential effects thiomersol-containing jabs. I'd be happy to dig it up and post it here.
This permanently and irrevocably destroyed our trust in the NHS programme of childhood vaccinations, as well as the efficacy of the Hib vaccine - with no plans to offer boosters to children who may be left with no immunity to it b/c they were immunised under the old schedule. Also the Prevenar carfuffle.
Our plan is to return to the US and have our child immunised there.
