HSBC Passport Service
« on: March 13, 2006, 03:18:23 PM »
I was poking around the HSBC website and came across something they call their Passport Service.  Basically it is a current account specifically geared towards people relocating to the UK.  Has anyone opened one of these accounts?  Is it worth the £7.50/month fee?  It does sound much easier to open than going through all the hassle many people here have encountered.  So perhaps this might be an option for those of you who are having major problems opening bank accounts, or for people like me who are scared to death of potential issues I may encounter once I'm over there.

The url is http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/current-accounts/passport

This sounds like a good service, but I have yet to hear of someone getting turned down for an account that doesn't involve the borrowing of money.
I think just about any bank will open you a basic savings account, once you get a Sort Code and Account Number, direct debits and direct deposits are good to go.

Best of luck :)
