Paddington Hotel
« on: March 24, 2006, 02:42:01 PM »
my father is coming to the UK, partially to see me and partially for work.  he sort of assumed i'd know a great hotel for him in london.  i'm looking for a decent quality hotel near paddington (as he'll be using that train station a couple fo times).  would prefer internet access at the hotel. around the £90-120 range.

another related question- i know diddly about london- is the paddington area nice.  will he have a few choices of restaurants/pubs at night?  when i go to orbitz/fodors paddington isn't listed as an area.  what are is it considered a part of?

Paddington is in the Westminster area. The Hilton Metropole is nice but I am not sure of the price range on that.

It is an ok area.

I've stayed a few times at the Hilton Paddington. It is literally right on top of the station. It is a beautiful hotel. All times we stayed we got a a good deal through Hilton itself. A weekend deal sort of thing. We spent £135 a night, it wasn't for the basic room either.

Sorry to be picky, but Paddington may be in the Borough of Westminster, but it isn't in the Westminster area, so if you did a search on hotels in Westminster you would find them a good bus/tube/cab ride away.

yeah, that's what i'm finding.  found what seems like a great hotel city inn westminster (£75/night, free internet, gym, etc).  but it's not near anything.  looks like at least a 10 min walk to a tube stop.

should i be looking in the bayswater area?

The areas of Paddington or Marylebone should be about right.

Try The Darlington Hotel.  I stayed there about a year ago and it is within walking distance of Paddington.
