I work for a very large company and there are soo many things that we have to do to CYA everyone and everything. Recently a colleague and myself have been given some not so desirable tasks. So today, I send a boring document (which resulted from a company wide fire drill (not a fire but you know what I mean) to my manager and said colleague, our manager replies with a thank you, then.....my colleague sends the message below to our manager INSTEAD of me.
Excellent Jules, you have managed to give us at least a few days before we need to carry out some additional arbitrary, irrelevant and mind numbing task. I think this is going to be the key to our approach: simply produce something and hope no one has time to ever look at it. Once the chaos has died down and its all forgotten, we move on to something else.
Needless to say, my colleague was dying a thousand deaths! He said he was getting hot flashes when he realized he hadn't sent it to me.
LOL!!! I am still laughing my head off! I had tears streaming down my face! My colleague tried to recall the message...but it was too late our manager had already read it! The good news is, he is a wonderful guy and manager so he could actually see the humor in it (and he is an Executive, how often can you say that about an Exec!).
Hmm, guess if you have to live in Corporateland...having a decent boss sure does help!
