Sorry if this has been posted earlier - was hoping people could give me their opinions on cruises.  DH and I want to go on one sometime from here (Southampton) to NYC.  We were on Holland America a few years ago and my only concern is that it's mostly older people - and by that I mean 60+.  Any opinions?  We are not big partiers by any means but we also don't want to spend that kind of $$ and not really enjoy it.

my mil is a world cruise traveller. She goes on 2-3 a year but her cruises are the type you probably want to avoid.  She likes people her age and all the formality.

If you haven't already there is a really good link to check out

WELLLLLLLL.......

DH and I did Southampton to Barbados..in 2003 on Oceana (P&O) and we LOVED it LOVEDLOVEDLOVED it!!!!
Not to many oldies and we had a fab time. Several formal nights..semi formal..casual...

Holland America tends to be alot older crowd. There is Cunard Queen Mary...but I oppose to that whole class thing on them..depending on what cabin you book it delegates what restaurant you eat in..level of service all that stuff...and my ex boss and several of the managers went on it and they said it was garrish...to much like a floating Las Vegas. Nothing wrong with Las Vegas just doesn't belong on a cruise ship. The QMII tends to have older ppl on it as well.

are you sure you just want to go from Southampton to NYC? We are doing one in June that looks like it is going to be a good one...on NCL...

Royal Caribbean is doing cruise out of Southampton as well...doing the Med and they tend to have a younger crowd on them...

pm me if you like Geetak....
