Can't contain my excitement!
« on: April 10, 2006, 01:36:01 PM »
We sent off our K-1 application March 15th. After weeks of waiting nervously, hoping we even filled out the application right -- we got finally got a letter 2 days ago (April 8th), and our interview date in London is on May 19th! And we're leaving for good on June 1st! I couldn't be happier!

Anyone who's going through this -- the whole process for us, starting from mailing off the K1 application to hearing back from them with our interview date, took less than a month! So much shorter than expected! So please don't worry!

We both are ecstatic. [smiley=daisy.gif]

Congrats, Honeybee!
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

I am actually quite surprised.  When my DH and I were going to get married we had intended for him to get his fiance visa. We filled out all the paperwork and sent it off in the month of April. We really wanted to get married in October.  We waited and waited and waited and nothing came.  By the beginning of September we began to panic. We decided that I should live over here and so we went ahead with our wedding in October and 2 weeks later I had a new passport, and my spousal visa to move over here.  After having settled here and getting a job, it was the following January we heard from the Embassy in London saying it was approved and he could have his interview.  This was 9 months after applying 3 months after we were already married!  We then had to write a letter stating we were already married and decided to live in the UK.

So I am extremely impressed it only took that long!! How??????

Bye

But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Congrats - that's great!  I'm looking into this now and not sure if I should be applying for an I-130.  What exactly is the K-1?  I'm so confused and feel so stupid!!!  Did your guy get a job over there?  If so, did he have a tough time of it?

I'm so happy for you!! :)

That's great news Honeybee - I can't believe it happened so fast.

Ours took a couple of months.  The process seemed like it went - apply to apply for the K-1 (fiance visa), get approved to apply and schedule the interview, actually apply for the visa at the embassy in London, come to the US, get married, apply to change status (become a resident), apply for a work permit while waiting for residency, finally become a resident.  I think we started applying for the visa in March (?), got married at the end of June, and he finally got his (conditional) residency in January.

But once you get that K-1 you don't have to be seperated - and that is all that really matters.
