fly into Belfast or ?
« on: April 09, 2006, 03:06:01 AM »
Okay, I need some of your wisdom here!  Should we fly into Belfast (far more $ as far as I can tell), fly into Dublin and then take the train to Belfast (with jet lag, baggage and a four year old) or fly into London then belfast from there?
Any advice would be great!
TIA,
Michele

Hi Michele,

We've done both routes with our three kids. Flying to Dublin and then taking the train up to Belfast adds on hours of jet-lagged travel with grumpy, tired kids (and parents  ::) ), in my experience. We finally determined it was not worth the money we saved by doing it. You have to take a bus from the airport to the train station in Dublin. We've also flown to London and then on to Belfast. I prefer that route to the Dublin one. At least you have a lounge to wait in and you don't have to drag your bags with you. The BMI lounge at Heathrow is large and has a Costa coffee shop. Continental flies from Newark directly to Belfast International now. We are using that route in May. Should be much easier! Best of luck.
