I passed the Theory and Hazard Percep!!
« on: April 12, 2006, 09:51:25 AM »
 ;D

The theory test was a doddle!!   Not to brag (oh, go ahead - you're still a Yank!)  but I got 35 out of 35 on the theory and 55 out of 75 on the hazard perception!!

I am so glad to have that part over.  I've been working with a driving instructor and will take my first stab at the practical on April 20.  Do you think it is better to take the practical in your own car or the instructors?

Any words of wisdom  will be much appreciated.   Thank you all so much for your support up to now!

Good for you Kathleen!
I got the same exact scores as you. I actually didnt understand the Hazard precetion test at first. So weird!
I never took any lessons here. I was driving here for over a year and had over 20 years driving experience in all so I just thought I would take a stab at the practical test in my own car on my own. I passed the first time.
Best of luck!!

Excellent, Kathleen!!

I took my practical test in the instructor's car. Not sure why, but it worked out fine. Around here, that's what most people seem to do.

Good luck on the 20th!

Congrats!  I am going to get the books (maybe this weekend!) and start studying!  Our one year ends at the end of June.

If you are taking lessons in your instructor's car then you might as well take the test too...you can have a one hour 'lesson' just before the test which can settle your nerves.

Because I was driving on my US license already, I was more comfortable in my own car for both lessons and the test. My instructor's car had six gears, and the brakes had a completely different feel to them. Lessons progressed much better after I switched to my own little Clio! No matter how silly some of the driving methods seem, assimilate them and practice until they are second nature. And shortly before your test, have the instructor take you repeatedly down the test routes so you are familiar with the roads and all the little trap areas. Good luck!
