Too many Easter eggs... too little recipes!
« on: April 25, 2006, 09:43:40 PM »
I'm all for eating loads of chocolate at Easter, but there comes a time when enough is enough! I've had my fill but I am still left with three LARGE Easter eggs that are going nowhere.

They have names written on them, so I can't give them away. So I was thinking I could melt them down and make something - only question is - what do I make?

I was thinking something like a chocolate monkey bread or some cookies - but I don't know where to start.

Does anyone have any good recipes that involves melting milk chocolate?!? I'd appreciate any help! Thank you!
Who ate all the pies?

Yes.  Melt milk chocolate.  Open packet of digestives.  Bring both to comfy chair in front of telly.  Switch on fav show.  Dunk digestives in melted milk chocolate and eat.

Expat has a good idea!  Or, you could use it for fondue, dipping in strawberries, pretzels, etc.  You can chill them on a cookie sheet in the fridge and munch liberally ;)

Or you can break the chocolate into smaller pieces and use in place of chocolate chips for baking.  OR...failing that, just package them up and send them to me.  I'll put them to good use!  ;D

Here's a good one! I found it last year in The Independent magazine. It's one of the "celeb" recipes (by Martin Clunes) and it was delicious!

225g plain chocolate (substitute Easter eggs)
225g butter
2 eggs
2tbsp caster sugar
225g digestive biscuits
60g mixed walnuts and cherries
1tbsp brandy

In a bowl set over a pan of boiling water (or even in a microwave), melt the chocolate and the butter. Place the digestive biscuits in a plastic bag and gently hit them with a rolling pin - you want them roughly broken, not crushed. Beat eggs and sugar together and then add them to the chocolate and butter, along with the biscuits. Stir in the walnuts and cherries, and the brandy.

Line a shallow cake tin with foil, butter it, and pour the mixture into it. Refrigerate for at least two hours.

When you're ready to eat it, cut it into squares and enjoy with a cup of coffee.
