FLR & civil judgements
« on: April 28, 2006, 11:23:12 AM »
I'm currently filling out my FLR form and it's asking for criminal charges and civil judgements. 9 yrs ago, I filed for  bankruptcy, is this considered a civil judgement?

Thanks

I didn't list my bankruptcy on the FLR form.

I am leaving in 9 days for UK, to be married.  I have been trying to find more info on applying for the FLR, but all I can find is that it's necessary to do it within the 6 month period on my visa.  Do I HAVE to go to London to get it, or is there a form I can download to mail in with documents?  If that 's possible, would it be less than 500 lbs?  We don't have a certain time that we want to travel, I just know I have to have it.  Thanks!

Suzie, you can download the FLR(M) form from the IND website- http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/ind/en/home/applying/application_form.html.  You can send it in by post and it'll cost much less (335 GBP as opposed to the 500 you'd pay if you do it in person at a Public Enquiry Office.)  Should take about a month to get your FLR back in the mail.
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12

Thank you amarylis, that is just what I was looking for, and so happy it will cost less that way!

I definitely recommend getting extra official Marriage Certificates if you're doing FLR by mail.  That way while they have one certificate you can be changing your name on other stuff with another.  And as Amarylis said, it takes about a month.

That's exactly what we did!  We requested 2 official marriage certificates, so that we wouldn't get stuck needing it while it was already off and away somewhere.
