Question about UK colleges
« on: May 17, 2006, 01:39:20 AM »
Are British students usually the same age as Americans when entering/leaving University? Someone told me today that British kids go off to Uni anytime between 16-18, so I was just wondering if that was true or if they do the same as we do in the U.S.?

Students leave school at age 16 and go on to do A-levels before university.  The system isn't the same as what we have in the US but I think the age range is about right.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

It's roughly like getting an AA in the US.

Students usually enter university at 18, same as in the US, but since most degree courses are only three years they leave at age 21.
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12
