more electrical questions - iPod speakers
« on: April 24, 2006, 10:12:26 AM »
We're going to Canada in the summer and the issue is always the kids' music.  they will bring their iPods and they have a small speaker unit for charging and playing their music.  It has a detachable power cord so will I be able to change the cord to a North American power cord without ruining the unit?

This is what they have.

I can't see any specifications for that unit, but most of these portable amplifier/speaker kits have a power supply which is intended for 120 or 240V only.

It's just possible that it has a switched mode supply which will accept either trhough, particularly as it incorporates a charger.  Have a look on the bottom or rear of the unit for the label or stamped equivalent which will specify the allowable input voltages.

Thanks Paul.  I'll have a look and see if it makes any sense whatsoever!
