leaving for the US on Thursday for 10 days
« on: May 02, 2006, 01:06:55 AM »
Haven't been since Christmas and for my wife it's been since Thanksgiving.  We are so excited because we have hit the 9 month wall here and are really homesick.  We fly into Kansas City for 5 days to see her mom and stepdad and friends, and then fly to Columbus, OH to see my mom and dad and her dad.  10 day trip.  I'm sure it'll be a whirl wind but we need it right now.  We are really bored here and can't get out of the rut.  As soon as we get there we plan to get Wendy's.  We are still perplexed as to why it hasn't made it's way over here.  Oh well.

Bloodied, but not beaten!

Hope you have a nice visit!  :)
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

My wife said there used to be one Wendy's in London but it shut ages ago.  I guess they couldn't compete with Wimpy's!  ;)

While you're in KC -- please, please have some REALLY GOOD BBQ for me...preferably at Gates & Sons, or the Smokestack in Martin City!!! ;D  Last several trips back to Kansas, I've been flying into Wichita (closer to where I'm ultimately going) <big yawn>...but next time, I promised DH we're flying into KC, MO for BBQ and to see the KC sites & then on to KU (Lawrence, KS) so he can see my beloved Jayhawk-land. ;)

Have a fantastic trip!

Wimpy's?  I haven't heard of that one.

Absolutely dire food!  Don't know if it was that particular branch, but every time we eat there, the food was horrid.

But not to worry, I believe Wimpy's is now history; they've closed down.

They're like weeds popping up everywhere.  I know there's one in town.
They sell the infamous Brown Derby, I'm not sure but I think it's the hotdogs cut up in a circle in a hamburger bun.
Thankfully, I've never eaten there as I've heard how awful they can be, although I don't tend to eat fast food at all if I can help it.

didn't see this until i got back, but we did eat at Gates......."HI MAY I HELP YOU!!!"  I love that place, but since i'm not from there I am always intimidated by the yelling so I order the wrong thing.  It was great though.  I think my favorite is still Arthur Bryants.

Hehe -- people either love or hate the 'HI MAY I HELP YOU!!!' thing...what an American kind of thing! ;) :)  I'm so pleased you went...living vicariously here through StormintheUK's BBQ experience

Oh I do miss their sauce -- meant to get some when I was back, but I didn't.
