US bank account as evidence of joint finances for ILR?
« on: May 22, 2006, 02:47:55 PM »
Hi everyone.  Just wondering what you all think about including statements from our joint bank account in the US as part of our evidence of "joint financial commitments" for my ILR application.  The statements were sent to my parents' address in the US, but they do have both of our names on them.  Do you think these would be of any help, or would they actually work against us because of the US address?  (We have a joint account in the UK as well, but we have shared the one in the US since we were first married, whereas I only got added to the UK one after being here a year.)

I would think it would work against you, because you are trying to prove your relationship in the UK.  I could be wrong though.

No, it won't work against you.  As long as you have enough evidence to show you have been living together for two years, and you make clear that these are just being used as evidence of finance and that it is your parents' address, there should be no problem.
