*New Airline - A new airline, to be operating by July, is set to Americanise air travel in the UK. Hop, headed by Tony Camacho (former chief commercial officer of budget Dutch airline Buzz) will have its head office in Cambridge, and plans to fly frequent Greyhound-style services on a network of routes from up to 20 UK airports with 20-minute check-ins.

Hop's founders predict fares on a third of the routes will be less than £10; and believe it can run up 20 per cent more efficiently than existing budget airlines by making maximum use of the county's smaller airports.

*New Routes - New routes: Air Southwest will fly from Jersey to Bristol and Plymouth from 2 April (return flights from £29); American Airlines will fly from Manchester to Boston from May 15 (from £407); and easyJet will fly from Newcastle to Nice from May 17 (£53.80).  Aer Lingus is to return to Bristol after a three-year break. The Irish airline is to re-introduce a daily service from the start of the summer season on 28 March.
