taking dogs back to the US pt 2

The USDA is very easy dealing with dogs coming back from a country that is rabies free.  All they require is a health certificate filled out by a vet within two weeks of returning to the US.  That's much easier than bringing them here.

One more question.  When we brought them over we were only allowed to fly them into Gatwick or Manchester right?  Then from there we had to transport them ourselves to their final destination.  Is it like that when you fly them home?  Are we going to have to drive to one of those airports, or can we actually fly out of a smaller airport with a a connection in Gatwick?  Anyone know?

Bloodied, but not beaten!

I would recommend getting a copy of the shot records, broken down to show exactly what they have had recently.  We didn't have that when we brought our dog back to the US and the officer said that technically he had the power to quarantine our dog until we could provide that, even though I hadn't read that requirement anywhere.

Thought I'd add - we did have the health certificate from the vet, but on that he only said that our dog had been given all the updated shots and was fit to fly.  That letter was definitely fine for the airlines to let her on, but not necessarily enough for to get released from the US airport.  Thankfully she was able to be released, but still, the process is WAY easier than getting into the UK....and MUCH cheaper too!
